7 Worst Medical Crimes In History

The progress of medical science is able to save someone's life, but sometimes experiments conducted by scientists that there are unethical. Here it is 7 worst medical experiments involving human subjects.

As quoted by LiveScience, there are seven of the worst in the history of medical experiments involving humans as subjects, namely:

1. Tuskegee study
The study lasted for 40 years. According to the Center Disease Control and Prevention U.S., health authorities launched a study on the health effects of untreated syphilis. Unfortunately it is not known by the participants, who received treatment either syphilis or not.

Researchers track disease progression on 399 black men in Alabama, including 201 healthy men. Scientists reveal in participants being treated for having a 'bad blood'. The participants never get adequate treatment, even in 1947 when penicillin became the drug of choice to treat syphilis.

2. Syphilis study in Guatemala
Between the years 1946-1948, the U.S. and Guatemalan governments conduct a joint study by means of deliberately infecting prisoners with syphilis in Guatemala and patients in a mental hospital. This study aims to test chemicals that can prevent the spread of disease.

Researchers tried to infect subjects with telling them how to have sex with prostitutes who are already infected. Although patients given the drug penicillin, but not finding follow-up care for these patients.

3. Surgical experiments on slave
Figures of modern gynecology, J Marion Sims gained much fame by performing experimental surgery on slave women. Sims experimented surgery without anesthesia (anesthesia mostly undiscovered), but it is revealed that it is not painful enough. Whereas in the Journal of Medical Ethics 1993 written by human conduct experimental unacceptable.

4. The murder of Burke and Hale
Until the 1830s the execution murders are relatively rare, so many experts take or buy anatomy of the human body from the robbers. Until the end of William Hale and his friend William Burke opened the inn entrepreneurs and sell body for sale to anatomists. As a result of these crimes then Burke was hanged for his crimes.

5. The Monster Study

These experiments were previously normal children become anxious and be silent.

6. Japan's Unit 731
Throughout the 1930s until the 1940s, the Japanese imperial army biological warfare and medical tests on civilians and most of them are Chinese. The death toll from the brutal experimental unknown, but there may be 200,000 people.

This study involves wells infected cholera, typhus, lice and the prisoners lined up in the cold weather to determine the best treatment for frostbite. Other atrocities were blindfolded prisoners with poison gas, then put into the room until their eyes out and dissected while still alive and conscious.

7. Nazi medical experiments
Perhaps the notorious trials of all time was made ??by Josef Mengele, an SS doctor at Auschwitz, and he collected the eyes of a patient victim. This experiment used prisoners to test the treatment against infectious diseases and chemical warfare. While others are forced into low-pressure freezing indoors as a trial flight.
